Sofian Javich Hadgé

Visual Artist

Works

Born in Paris in 1992, Sofian Javich Hadgé is a visual artist based in the Perche region of France. He first developed a collage practice using found materials, before turning to photomontage in 2017.

He began painting in 2023, around the time of his daughter’s birth, against the backdrop of the war in Gaza. This period gave rise to an initial series of abstract portraits, inhabited by wounded, raw figures that seem to emerge from the material like revenants.

His work then evolved towards a more radical and pared-back practice, centred on material, trace and gesture.

Since 2025, he has been developing an instinctive painting practice at the intersection of abstraction, collage and lyricism. His works emerge through layering, erasure, overpainting and chance.

Flat areas of acrylic, lines, splashes and plays of transparency build forms that evoke bodies, landscapes, architectures or mental maps in turn.

Each work acts as a fragment, a birth: the trace of a movement, the memory of an inner state, left open enough for viewers to project something of their own history onto it.
